SWITZERLAND
ST.MORITZ
Chic, elegant, and exclusive with a cosmopolitan ambiance, St. Moritz is situated in the heart of the Engadine valley, on the southern side of the Alps near the Italian border, and is probably one of the best-known resorts in the world.
Its sparkling dry climate is famous and not only is St. Moritz known as the birthplace of winter tourism and modern Alpine sports, but it is also the only town in Switzerland to have hosted the Winter Olympics. As well as skiing, St. Moritz offers a wide variety of attractions including horse racing on the frozen lake, many restaurants, nightclubs, cafes, clubs, cinemas, concerts, a casino, and of course the famous Crest Run. It is a unique blend of breathtaking white powdery scenery nature, excellent food, unique sports events, and an easy chic lifestyle.
Since the sun shines an average of 322 days a year, St. Moritz almost guarantees brilliant blue skies.

St. Moritz is truly a winter sports resort, rather than simply a ski resort, but this observation can often disguise the quality of the skiing, which is astonishingly good. The skiing takes place in three main areas, and between them, they offer an impressive 350km of pistes.
The Corviglia area is adjacent to St. Moritz itself, which has a very respectable resort altitude of 1,800m and rises up to the Piz Nair summit at 3,057m. Snowboarders might think such a long-established resort is not for them. On the contrary, this is a fashion-conscious destination, and borders abound here. The slopes of Corviglia are especially popular with them.
The Corvatsch area lies across the valley from St. Moritz at Surlej (1,870m). Slopes here rise up to a glacial area at 3,451m, and many of them have a northerly orientation so that snow remains in good condition well into the spring.
The third of St. Moritz’s main ski area is Diavolezza-Lagalb. It’s a little smaller than the main skiing areas in Upper Engadin and a little harder to get to, but it’s certainly worth a visit. The black slope is the stuff adventurer’s dreams are made of. The steepest slope here has a gradient of 86 degrees.
